Located in a tsarist-era palace, restored and modified by some of Russia's finest artistic talent, the Hotel first opened in 1997 as Eliseev Palace Hotel with the Taleon Club, St. Petersburg’s premier club, which still occupies the front part of the palace, along the Moika River. The Taleon Imperial Hotel opened in May 2003 after a two-year restoration of the existing space within the Taleon Club, as well as adjoining interior wings that were previously residential.
